Forty Years of Tropical Forest Recovery from Agriculture: Structure and Floristics of Secondary and Old-Growth Riparian Forests in the Dominican Republic
    Reads: 5

Woody structure recovered relatively quickly, but basal area, non-woody plant diversity, and native composition remained below old-growth conditions. Introduced species remained important, showing that structural recovery can mask slower biodiversity recovery.

Natural Regeneration of Subtropical Montane Forest after Clearing Fern Thickets in the Dominican Republic
    Reads: 5

The study tests whether removing dense fern cover can release arrested forest succession and whether remnant trees facilitate recruitment. It is a restoration-process study, not a climate-adaptation impact evaluation.

The project had not yet met its reforestation objectives, but natural succession had produced substantial vegetation recovery. Non-native trees dominated, showing that recovery does not necessarily equal restoration to the planned composition.
