This article reviews evaluates the potential of native nitrogen-fixing legume trees for soil bioengineering in the Caribbean, given their ecological importance and capacity to improve soil stability and fertility. Five native legume species from distinct riparian ecosystems (swamp forests, evergreen seasonal forests, and rainforests) were selected based on ecological resilience, disturbance tolerance, and seed productivity.
This interactive platform addresses Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA), Climate resilience, Water management, and Community participation. It focuses on Peru and covers Mountain, grassland and forest ecosystems. Its reported or expected contributions include stronger climate resilience and adaptive capacity, stronger local capacities and livelihoods, and improved water security and watershed management.
This tool / methodology addresses Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA), Climate resilience, Climate finance, and Water management. It has global scope and covers River, wetland and inland water ecosystems. Its reported or expected contributions include stronger climate resilience and adaptive capacity, and improved water security and watershed management.
Shawi men reported recurrent flooding, rising heat, reduced wild foods, declining hunting and fishing, and reliance on crops and domestic animals. The study warns that adaptation through agricultural transition may create new vulnerabilities and cultural and mental-health costs.
The review finds that specific enabling rules remain limited, EbA application in mangroves and seagrasses is constrained, blue-carbon governance is incipient, and finance, participation, governance, and institutional-capacity barriers persist.
This tool / methodology addresses Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA), and Multi-ecosystem approach. It has global scope and covers a multi-ecosystem perspective. Its reported or expected contributions include stronger climate resilience and adaptive capacity.
